The Leaders of Castrima and The Faceless

Both Ykka Rogga Castrima, leader of the comm of Castrima from The Broken Earth Trilogy, and Agam, leader of The Faceless from Avatar: Seven Havens; are favorite characters of mine.

These characters are both the leaders of communities that are composed of deserters who aim to live under different sets of rules to the ones established by the previous culture of survival, often aimed towards a perspective of self-expression.

But probably the most important part of them as characters, is that their leadership style comes from letting their own people take decisions about what they really want to do while they serve as mediators.

They let people who can prove useful for their communities in, even if at the begining they could have been enemies. A community is built on people who can belong there, even if they don’t appear like it when they join.
